The Accounting Manager will be responsible for the accounting function at the Courtyard by Marriott Downtown location. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash management and general operations support. JOB SUMMARY Responsible for daily journal entries. Oversee the general accountant job function at the Courtyard (A/R, A/P, and General Cash) and perform job performance evaluations accordingly. Perform random vault audits on the general accountant and bank audits on the managerial staff. Month-end accounting duties. This includes preparing all journal entries, closing the books and issuing financial statements by 3rd business day. General ledger recons ensuring proper posting from previous months. Review invoices for approval/coding. Monitor weekly check runs and submit positive pay upload files. Work directly with manager’s to ensure proper allocation of expenses. Develop effective working relationships with all departments and clients to ensure quality guest service. Issue an aging report on all outstanding receivable accounts to General Manager on a monthly basis. Work closely with operating departments to make sure guest billing is handled correctly and offer assistance to operating departments in general as needed. Handle guest questions on billing issues, provide customer service support when necessary. Assist with the annual budget process. Assist the General Manager and Corporate Controller in tracking capital/renovation project costs. Provide support to General Manager and other operation staff. Emphasis on financial analysis, problem solving, and increased efficiencies. Assisting managers with payroll functions such as requests off, fixing punches, and labor reallocating in ADP. Track monthly billing charges from building owner. Monitor monthly Marriott fees and receipts. Work closely with and assist Accounting Functions at Amway Grand Plaza and JW Marriott, as necessary. Assist the Courtyard Leadership team with monitoring and responding to Guest Voice surveys daily. Complete MOD duties. Work with the Director of F&B to oversee Receiving functions/personnel. Assist with the development and coordination of Birch Street and ADP programs. Attend routine operational/leadership meetings as well as credit and purchasing meetings (as needed) Perform other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE Hospitality and Guest Service experience. An understanding of Micros and Marriott FOSSE PMS is preferred. Knowledge of Birchstreet Purchasing Software is preferred. Knowledge of ADP Payroll Software is preferred. Knowledge of Dataplus Accounting Software is preferred. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE General knowledge of accounting concepts and requirements. Create and maintaining a positive attitude with a focus on teamwork. Ability to work in fast-paced environment. EDUCATION OR CERTIFICATION Bachelor Degree in Accounting preferred.
